CEC - Cork English College were delighted to welcome his excellency Ambassador of Germany Cord Meier-Klodt to Cork on Wednesday, July 6^th.  Ambassador Meier-Klodt was accompanied by Mr. Ralf Lissek, CEO of the German-Irish Chamber of Industry & Commerce to meet with German students currently enrolled in the school as part of the Kaufmann International Certificate programme.

The Kaufmann International Certificate is a three-week business English programme with a curriculum based on German business education, including excursions on business and Irish cultural topics. The programme is centred on fostering German-Irish relations and covers areas such as entrepreneurship, communication & socio-cultural learning. Successful completion of the programme leads to the award of the certificate certified and awarded by the German-Irish Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Ambassador Meier-Klodt met with students from his hometown of Hamburg who’re currently in week 2 of the programme with Cork English College. Covering topics such as their own careers, the content of the programme and of course their impressions of Cork and Ireland. Commenting on the visit Ralf Lissek, German-Irish Chamber CEO had this to say; “Our Mission is to open doors and create possibilities for young people. So glad that we are already off to such a successful start with our new partner school and its first 50 KIC students from the great city of Hamburg.”
